WINDS OF CHANGE

Did you notice that I missed writing June and July’s newsletters? Keep on reading, and you’ll find out why. Change is in the air everywhere. The dismantling structure is quickening, and its impact is leaving all kinds of shaking up and tangling up unleashed situations in its wake not easy to navigate. The disconcerting uncertainty is the call from spirit winds to remember that multiple realities of comings and goings are being served up every day in every way.

As I rest in the center of my being, there’s a dialogue going on about facing change that sounds like this.

“Greetings, Changing Winds here. Glad to see me?”

“I’m not sure. What’s up?

“I’m here to change your environment, shake up your days, break up your routine.”

At the onset of May, the spiral of change delivered an unexpected shift requiring a change of residence. It was time for my family and I to assess our home accumulations by taking a good look at the memories and momentos that represent the wheel of time. Having to embark upon the task of looking for a change of residence was a sudden twist of fate. As inconvenient as that seemed, the much larger perspective was knowing that great numbers of people around the world are being displaced daily for all kinds of reasons. I struggle with this reality. After a very long, deep, sigh, I am back in the rabbit hole of my individual life and its front and center immediacy.

There are very few rentals in the town where we live, as with so many other towns, loaded with Airbnb’s. Being so, we feel very fortunate how divine timing brought the rearranging pieces together quickly. Through guided prayers, pro-active house-hunting, trusting spirit, and welcoming referrals we found a house rental. Ideally, we were looking for a lease-purchase agreement. Our ideal vision did not manifest, and we have surrendered to what has come to be. That famous quote and lyric by the Rolling Stones rings true. “You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.” If I were to rewrite that quote to better fit me, I would say, “You don’t always receive what you envision, you receive what is meant to be, even when you might not understand why.”

After two solid exhausting months of packing, moving, adapting, and unpacking, our family is in a new rental space that meets our needs. It’s a lovely, quiet neighborhood. A tiny front porch and back patio are bonuses. Does it feel like home? No, although it is a peaceful refuge for which we are most grateful. With all this said, there’s a silver lining to everything. This move has brought great clarity. Our dream-wish to own our home continues pulsing in the ebb and flow tapestry of time.

When I initially learned that where we were moving offered no access to studio space for pursuing claywork, my heart sunk like a ship in distress. The warning bells in my head calmed down after realizing that on a level deeper than appearance, Spirit was nudging me to pursue bookwriting, which by the way, is coming along. Bed continues to be a favorite penning place. It’s a Queen bed, and that feels relevant to the birthing of my writing my Tiny Book Collection passion project.

With respect to claymaking, my beloved soul sister, Jennifer, has offered to store my clay materials in her studio. Later this Fall, I have been invited to share a corner of her studio space once a month. How incredibly grateful I am. In the meantime, I have a folding table set up in the bedroom that works just fine for painting the plethora of clay pendants that I abundantly designed over a year ago. I am committed to blooming where I am planted as I continue to water my dreamseeds to keep them alive.

The idea of destination is fascinating, and yet it’s our relationship with the present where dreams actually seed. In listening deep to the Heart of Spirit, I am reminded that life is full of stepping stones. Every move has purpose on the chessboard of life. Like dance steps, the spaces in between movement offer the most elevating grounded experience when we are open to the fullness of change.

Until next time,

Peace be the Journey
Trust the Trail
