WINTER’S BELONGING

Remembering that everyone and everything belongs to each seasonal cycle actualizes more interconnectedness. Tapping into soul essence is the greatest awakening mirror that we can hold up for one another. When we slow down, breathe deep, listen to spirit, and trust step-by-step inner guidance with clarity of vision and strength to pursue it, we transform the world. 

The world’s urgent need is to return to the inner rhythm of belonging. Many of us are feeling the call to reclaim sacred connection as we witness the global infrastructure dismantling to make room for an awakening world emerging. Our growing relationship with earth is a tender one. When I think about the ways in which life has been taken for granted, my heart sinks into a puddle of tears, and then it is called to make a difference. 

In the mystery of boundless soul sleeps gentle possibilities, and this is where I go for guidance, vision, and support. Because soul knows us beyond name, time, and place, trusting our inner spirit terrain reflects deep belonging, and sets our wisdom free to be all that we came here to be. Soul knows our nature and purpose, the right rhythm for our life.

The zeal with which I am creating is fueled by my sacred earthwalk focus, and purpose in these times. A passion for clay and writing immersion has become such a commitment of urgency that sometimes it feels as though life depends on it. Restful creativity is having its way with me. Living on vast, arid, high desert land in southwestern New Mexico since 2019, has given me the opportunity to observe rock formations, petroglyphs, pictographs, ancient ruins, and mountain ranges sculpted by howling spirit winds. The inner calling has been strong to grow a relationship with clay inspired by the raw majestic beauty, and spirit of the Ancient Ones, pulsing in my stardust, earth-rooted, boundless being. 

Time and time again, I’ve asked my inner landscape, “what is it about clay that I have such an affinity for?” My answer came through Celtic spirituality author, poet, and philosopher, John O’Donohue. “We are made of clay.” Earth lifeforms are made of so many compounds far more complicated than I choose to understand and explain. What I do know from working with clay is that its transformational journey has a voice and memory.

We often talk about peace as a mental state. I experience a palpable peace of being home when I have clay in my hands. I love the process of hand building. Micaceous clay is my clay of choice because it contains natural flecks of mica that carry a vibrant potency. This clay body has been used in New Mexico Pueblo and Apache pottery dating as far back as 4,000 years. 

The story embedded in clay, where primordial images have emerged, is teaching me about Clay Spirit Medicine with an invitation to deepen relationship with gratitude and respect for what holds us all up. When we deeply connect, we deeply care. Clay says, “before the age of bling…” earth beings decorated themselves, and their living spaces, with symbols representing alignment, purpose, guidance, perseverance, wisdom, gratitude, and responsibility.
